Delphine Gibbs

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at First Lutheran Church in Rugby, for Delphine Doris Gibbs, 81, of Rugby, who died Friday, April 16 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery, Rugby.

Delphine was born May 12, 1928, at home in rural Barton, a daughter of William and Julia (Wright) Dissette. She was raised there and attended grade school at Dewey School in Finnegan Township, Rolette County. She graduated from Willow City High School in 1946. She completed her education at Minot State Teachers College, receiving her teaching certificate in 1946. Following college, she taught at the Banner School in Pierce County for one year. She married Morris R. Gibbs on Nov. 4, 1947, at Willow City. The couple lived on a farm near Willow City until moving to a farm near Fillmore in 1958. In 1996, the couple moved into Rugby. Morris died Jan. 7, 1997.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rugby, and its WELCA.

She is survived by her sons, Roy of Billings, Mont. and Brian of Rugby; a daughter, Myva Wolf of Fargo; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lavon Hagboe of Minot; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Robyn Wolf; brothers, Leroy, Eugene and Glen Dissette; and her parents.

Pastor Sharon Baker officiated. Music was provided by Pam Anderson, organist, and the congregation.

Casketbearers were Scott Wolf, Brandon Wolf, Ryan Gibbs, Calvin Gibbs, Cameron Gibbs, Colten Weiss, Caleb Gibbs, and Dillon Bischoff.
