Florence Thorvilson

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby, for Florence Thorvilson, 94, of Rugby, who died Saturday, April 3 at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care.

A private burial will be at a later date in the Notre Dame Catholic Cemetery, Willow City.

Florence was born Oct. 25, 1915, at home in Willow City, a daughter of Peter and Gynetta (Wentworth) Duff. She was raised there and educated at area schools. Following her education, she worked at several places including San Haven Sanitarium, the Hayes Company in Erie, Pa., and Boeing Aircraft, building aircraft during WWII. She married Malcolm McKerrall following the war and they made their home in Seattle. She later married Carl Thorvilson of Barton. They lived in Barton until 1982, when they moved to Rugby. Carl died Aug. 17, 1993.

She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Malcolm McKerrall, Jr., of Dayton, Ore.; one daughter, Anita Triplett of Sioux City, Iowa; one step-son, James Thorvilson of Yuma, Ariz., seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Duff of Destrehan, La.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a step-son, James Thorvilson; five brothers, Don, Pete, Pat, Joe, and Earnest Duff; two sisters, Ernestine Rossi and Blanche Haughnaught; and her parents.

Fr. Tom Graner will officiate. Music will be provided by Richard Triplett, soloist.

There will be no visitation or reviewal prior to the service.
