Rose Voeller
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, for Rose K. Voeller, 93, of Rugby, who died Wednesday, March 24 at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care.
Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Balta, later in the spring.
Rose was born March 13, 1917, at home in rural Selz, a daughter of Philip and Margareta (Voeller) Keller. She was raised in rural Selz and received her education in a country school near her home. As a young woman she lived and worked for several years in Indiana. She married Peter P. Voeller on Nov. 24, 1940, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz. Following their marriage, the couple farmed and raised their family in rural Pleasant Lake, near Fillmore. Peter died suddenly on June 22, 1965. She remained on the farm until 1970, when she moved into Rugby. She worked for a short time at the Hamilton Motel, and for twenty years as a nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She moved to the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care after suffering a stroke in October of 2009.
She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America – Rugby Court, and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
She is survived by her children, Loretta Voeller, Brighton, Colo., Dennis, Pleasant Lake, LaVonne Kessler, Glenburn, Rosie Green, Moline, Ill., and Peter, Jr., Seattle; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cornelius, Esmond, and Joe, Harvey; three sisters, Lena Fettig, Selz, Lizzie Heisler, Esmond, and Katie Schneider, Harvey; a sister-in-law, Barbara Keller, Velva; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Pius; and three sons-in-law, Tom Beggs, William Kessler, and Arlen Green.
Fr. John Ejike officiated. Music was provided by Agnes Axtman, soloist, Kathy Voeller, vocalist, and Angie Deplazes, organist.
Casketbearers were Stacey, Steven and Laurice Kessler and Randy, Glen and Kenneth Keller.
