Jacob Selensky
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Great Falls, Mont., for Jacob Selensky, 79, of Great Falls, who died Thursday, March 11 at Peace Hospice.
Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Great Falls.
Jacob was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Orrin, a son of Ben and Barbara (Hilzendager) Selensky. He was raised in Rugby. While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was a member of the military police, the Marine Corps Band, and a Marine Corps boxing champion. He married Alice Voeller on May 25, 1954, in Balta. After his honorable discharge, the couple farmed in near Wolford until 1960, when they moved to Great Falls. He went to work for General Mills in 1962, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Great Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, Great Falls; three sons: Ron, Poway, Calif., Richard, Billings, Mont., and Randy, Great Falls; five daughters: Conny Cooke, Washougal, Wash., Kathie Settles, Lewiston, Idaho, Carole Sollid, Ulm, Mont., Colleen Schneckenberger, Golden, Colo., and Barb Kranitz, Great Falls; four brothers: Fred, Joe, Edward, and James, all of Rugby; two sisters: Mary Selensky and Theresa Bachmeier, both of Rugby; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren: Amy Sollid and Kyle Cooke; two brothers: John and Steve; and two sisters: Katherine Grad and Frances Heilman.
