Leona Boyer
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Bethel Free Lutheran Church in Minot, for Leona Boyer, 81, of Minot, who died Tuesday, March 2 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Oberon.
Leona was born Mar. 21, 1928, near Ross, a daughter of Ole and Aninda (Mehus) Rambel. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school. She married DJ “Bud” Holter on Oct. 28, 1946, in Glasgow, Mont. They moved to Lostwood in 1949, where Bud became a grain buyer at the elevator. In the fall of 1951, they moved to Sherwood. In the spring of 1954, the couple moved to the Benson County area, where Bud was a grain buyer for GTA and she was his bookkeeper in Knox, Fillmore and Oberon. Bud died Sept. 14, 1973. She married Toney Tweten in 1974. The couple farmed and ranched near Oberon. Toney died in January of 1982. In 1989, she moved into Dakota Terrace Apartments in Minot. She married Harold Boyer on Nov. 24, 1990. Harold died March 5, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Steffan, of Minot; two sisters: Alvina Engstrom of Leeds, and Evie Fretheim of Bowman; one brother, Marvin Rambel, of Minot; three grandsons; three great-granddaughters; one step-son, Greg Boyer, of Hazen; two step-daughters: Becky Burns and Faye Burns, both of Minot; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Bud, Toney, and Harold; a granddaughter, Christal Holter; a son, Harold “Buck”; a sister, Millie; brothers: Albert, Melvin, and Elmer; and a step-son, Alan Tweten.
