Virgil Jaeger
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at 10 a.m., at St. Edwin’s Catholic Church in Washburn, for Virgil M. Jaeger, 74, of Washburn, who died Monday, Feb. 8 at a Bismarck hospital.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.
Virgil was born March 23, 1935, in Berwick, a son of John and Margaret (Koenig) Jaeger. He was raised on the family farm near Berwick and graduated from Berwick High School. He married Floretta “Sandy” Volk on Jan. 24, 1961, in Rugby. They made their home near Towner until 1971. They relocated several times before settling in Washburn in 1976. In 1977, he and his wife started 8-J’s Trucking. His final years were spent helping a friend farm. Recently he underwent a kidney transplant and dialysis.
He was a member of St. Edwin’s Catholic Church in Washburn and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters: Michelle Hager, of Washburn, and Madonna Wretling, of Garrison; four sons: Randy, Russell, Rodney and Ryan, all of Washburn; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters: Martha Degrave, Lydia Leighton, and Sylvia Brook, all of Wisconsin, Anna Marie Zacher, of South Dakota, and Lorraine Jaeger, of Colorado; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, John Glen.
