Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo, for Carol Gannarelli, 73, of Fargo, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.

Burial will be in Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.

Carol was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Keewatin, Minn., a daughter of Howard and Lavina (Senzig) Kerr. She graduated from Robert L. Downing High School in 1953. She married Darrell Gannarelli on Jan. 22, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Keewatin. While he attended school in Hibbing, Minn., she worked as a bookkeeper at the Hibbing Sears and Roebuck Store. They moved to Fargo in 1955, where she provided daycare in her home and typed thesis papers for students of the North Dakota State Agricultural College (now NDSU). In 1957, they moved to Middle River, Minn. They moved to Belcourt in 1958, and she worked as a clerk at Juntunen’s Fairway Foods. She went on to work at Herb’s Variety (now Olson’s Variety), Sr. Meals Program, Golden Rule Clothing Store, and was the Rolette County Deputy Auditor and Deputy Registrar of Deeds. She retired in May of 1999. She moved to Fargo, working at Grahm’s Hallmark, then as a Vision Therapist with Agnes Vision Clinic. Health concerns forced a second retirement in 2007.

She is survived by her children: Bruce of Rugby, Richard of Rolla, Sherry Houdek of Grand Forks, Nancy Sand of Fargo, and Michelle Busko of Breckenridge, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings: Kathleen Kennedy of Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Nicholas Kerr of Silver Bay, Minn.; special Sunrise family; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings: Mary Jane Young, Robert Kerr, Lorna Boben, and Duncan Kerr.
