Roy Voeller
Funeral services were held today, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner, for Roy (Rochus) Voeller, 85, Rugby, formerly of Towner, who died Tuesday, Dec. 29 at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care.
Burial will be in the spring at the Church cemetery.
Roy was born March 1, 1924, at home in Berwick, a son of Anton and Eva (Krause) Voeller. He was raised in Berwick and at age two, the family moved to Towner where he received his education. Following school, he worked at various jobs and eventually opened and operated a Mobil Oil service station, Hiway Corner Service, in Towner for thirty years. He married Arnetta Hassler on June 7, 1948, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner. The couple lived and raised their family in Towner. He had resided at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care since November of 2005.
He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, and a 25 year member of the Towner Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Arnetta, Towner; four children: Janice Voeller, Minot, Nancy Voeller, Grand Forks, Rodney, Sioux Falls, and Mark, Rugby; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Voeller, Minot; two brothers-in-law: Carroll Hassler and David Hassler; a sister-in-law, Joan Hassler; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter-in-law, Diane.
Fr. Wenceslaus Katanga and Fr. Tom Graner officiated. Music was provided by St. Cecilia’s Music Ministry.
Casketbearers were Jerry Voeller, Jim Voeller, Tim McIntee, Tom McIntee, Darrell Haman, Jeff Block, and Bob Keller.
