Elizabeth Lagasse
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette, for Elizabeth Ann Lagasse, 87, of Rolette, who died Wednesday, Dec. 23 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.
Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, rural Rolette.
Elizabeth was born May 26, 1922, in rural Knox, a daughter of Andrew and Angeliane (Kupser) Mitzel. She was raised and educated in the Knox area. She married Henry Lagasse on May 11, 1944, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Knox. They made their home in several places through the years, but lived, worked, and raised their family in the Rolette area. She worked at the Laundromat and Motel in Rolette, was a nurses’ aide at the Rolette hospital, and after retirement, a daycare provider.
She is survived by her sons: James, St. Petersburg, Fla., Rodney, Rapid City, S.D., Dennis, Bottineau, Todd, Devils Lake, and Joseph, Mandan; daughters: Linda Lehnertz, Altura, Minn., Debra Lagasse, Waseca, Minn., Denise Lagasse, Rolette, and Joyce Kortuem, St. Michaels, Minn.; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-granchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Vollan, Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandchildren: Nicole Lagasse and Tammy Lagasse; brothers: Frank, Conrad, and Andrew Mitzel; sisters: Frances, Mary, Catherine, and Barbara; and her parents.
Fr. Philip Chacko officiated.
Casketbearers were Lisa Reps, Leslie Bianchi, Michael Lehnertz, Jill Lagasse, Sarah Lagasse, Jessica Lagasse, Britton Lagasse, Jacob Lagasse, and Ava Jo Lagasse.
