Florence Cebula

Florence Cebula, 81, of Jamestown, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown.

Florence was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Taylor, a daughter of Julius and Amelia (Held) Steckler. She attended and graduated from Corinne Township School near Courtenay. She married Joseph Cebula on Feb. 26, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fried. They moved to Jamestown in 1946. Joseph died in 1980.

She was a member of St. James Basilica and the St. James’ Tabernacle Society.

She is survived by three sons: Stanley of Jamestown, Steven of Rugby, and Samuel of Kenosha, Wis.; five daughters: Shirley Hutchins of Melbourne, Fla., Sharon Ackerman of Wimbledon, Susan Gums and Sandra Young, both of Jamestown, and Stacy Kracht of Gwinner; three brothers: Ed of Jamestown, Ken of Salem, Ore., and Larry of Auburn, Wash.; five sisters: Caroline Askins of Apple Valley, Calif., Frances Hennings of Texas, Marie Shipp of Plymouth, Mich., Lucy Steckler of California, and Janice Anderson of Coon Rapids, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Walter Remmick.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers: Clarence, Jacob, Emil, and Alvin; and a sister, Arlene Carter.
