Raymond Hoffart

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, for Raymond J. Hoffart, 75, of Minot, who died Monday, Nov. 30 in a Minot hospital.

Burial was in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

Raymond was born July 11, 1934 at Balta, a son of Jacob and Magdalene (Deck) Hoffart. He was raised and educated in the Balta and Rugby area, graduating from Rugby High School in 1952. He worked for his dad in Rugby until 1961, building and remodeling homes. He married Barbara Ovitt on April 24, 1957. They were married 34 years before separating. He worked in Pierre, S.D. on the Oahe Reservoir until 1962. He then worked as a carpenter with the carpenters union until 1967, when he began working as a millwright on the missile project throughout western N.D. In 1977, he began working at numerous power plants in and around North Dakota. He retired in 1997.

He is survived by his children, Steve and Mike, both of Minot, and Jackie Bischof of Bismarck; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Richard of Bismarck, David of Fargo, Francis Hoffart of Santa Clara, Calif., and Rita Holm of Lake Forest, Calif.; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Renae Hoffart.
