Alice Sanders
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Muehlebach Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo., for Alice C. Sanders, 83, of Independence, Mo., who died Sunday, Nov. 22 at home.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Alice was born March 31, 1926 in Bonetraill, N.D., a daughter of Seprain and Ingebord (Krefting) Buer. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby in 1948. She worked mostly as a private duty nurse. At one time, she cared for Mrs. Harry Truman at her home the last nine months of her life. She was married to Howard Sanders, they were later divorced. She cared for him the last five years of his life after he suffered a stroke. She enjoyed traveling, having been to six continents.
She was a member of Noland Rd. Baptist Church and attended First Baptist of Buckner while living with her son and his wife, and did volunteer work at Trinity Lutheran Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Sage Cleigh of Seattle, Gerald of Kansas City, Mo., Stanley of Independence, Mo., and Ronald of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Anna Atkinson of Willow City; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Coleman and Jennings Buer.
