Fred Massine

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby, for Fred M. Massine, 86, of Rugby, who died Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Burial will be in Little Flower Catholic Cemetery.

Fred was born Nov. 8, 1923 at Rugby, a son of Peter and Anna (Jundt) Massine. He grew up in the area and went to school in Balta. As a young man, he worked at Gronvold Motor Company in the service department and as the wrecker operator. He continued these duties with M.J. McGuire Company for about 20 years. Later, he worked for the Rugby School District as a custodian. He married Lillian Gross on Nov. 24, 1947, in Rugby. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3080 in Harvey.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Rugby; children, Linda

Herrmann of Yankton, S.D., Fred, Jr., of Helena, Mont., Duane of Alliance, Neb., and Darlene Goetz of Rugby; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe; a sister, Catherine Cline; a granddaughter, Amanda Herrmann; and a son-in-law, Fred Herrmann.

Rev. Daniel M. Mrnarevic and Rev. Tom Graner officiated.

Casketbearers were Tony Goetz, Joe Heilman, Francis House, Mike Massine, George Sattler and Robert Stenson.
