Mary Sattler

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Little Flower Catholic Church, for Mary C. Sattler, 90, of Rugby, who died Monday, Nov. 9 at the Heart of America Medical Center Long Term Care.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mary was born Nov. 12, 1918 in Towner, a daughter of John and Cecilia (Schiff) Gaffrey. She grew up in rural Knox, graduating from Knox High School in 1937. She married Gabriel J. Sattler on March 19, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Knox. They lived and farmed in rural Knox. Gabriel died April 18, 1955. She married Andrew E. Sattler on Sept. 17, 1956 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The couple made their home in Rugby.

She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knox, and its Altar guild, a current member of Little Flower Catholic Church and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and a member of the Kane-Ellingson Post #217 American Legion Auxiliary in Knox.

She is survived by one daughter, Cecilia Danielski of Haymarket, Va.; two sons, Joseph of Northville, Mich., and James of Denver; a foster son, Frank Massine of Cedar Hill, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Amelia Venturo of Lakewood, Colo.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son-in-law, Loren Danielski; a brother, Joseph; and her parents.

Fr. John Ejike officiated. Music was provided by Robert Graber, vocal leader, and Glenda Mack, organist.

Casketbearers were Jay Danielski, Arlan Danielski, Edward Volk, George Sattler, Joe Black and Duane Baillie.
