Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Niewoehner Funeral Home in Rugby, for Darlene “Stub” Halvorson, 78, of Rugby, who died Monday, Nov. 9 at the Heart of America Medical Center.

Burial was in Persilla Watts Cemetery.

Darlene was born Dec. 11, 1930 at Wolford, a daughter of Conrad and Alpha (Dunham) Humble. She grew up in the area and went to school in Wolford. She worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital, starting as a Dietary Aide, and later, as the Dietary Supervisor for 25 years. She married Floyd Halvorson on June 5, 1976, in Hallock, Minn. She had once been married to Harold Grieb and LeRoy Larson.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rugby.

She is survived by her children, Larry Grieb of Boyceville, Wisc., Terry Grieb of Bottineau, Laura Sorensen of Valley City and Fawn Unruh of Minot; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wendell Humble of Wolford; and a sister, Linda Clark of Eugene, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a grandson; and brothers, Ronnie, Johnnie and Shorty.

Reverend Sharon Baker officiated. Music was provided by Dianne Montonye, organist.
