Michael Ripplinger

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey, for Michael T. Ripplinger, 89, of Harvey, who died Friday, Oct. 16 at St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Michael was born Feb. 9, 1920 on the family farm northeast of Esmond, a son of Theodore and Barbara (Burgard) Ripplinger. In 1926, the family moved to a farm southwest of Esmond. He grew up and attended rural school there. He married Helen E. Lesmeister on Nov. 10, 1941 in Selz. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Esmond. In 1950, they began living in Harvey during the winter and on the farm during the summer. He semi-retired from farming in 1977. Helen died July 21, 1997.

He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, the Harvey Knights of Columbus Council #5217, and the Wells Eagles Aerie #3080 in Harvey.

He is survived by two daughters, Stephina Gisi and Sylvia Grad, both of Harvey; one son, Stephen of Esmond; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; a brother, Theodore; three sisters, Barbara Ripplinger, Marie Vetter and Frances Roerick; and special friend, Virginia Burgard.

Fr. Michael Hickin officiated.
