Avonne Jaeger

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Little Flower Catholic Church, for Avonne “Vonnie” Jaeger, 81, who died Friday, Oct. 2, at the St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud, Minn.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Vonnie was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Rugby, a daughter of Charles and Jennie (Grove) Harkison. She was raised and graduated high school at Rugby. She attended the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and completed her RN degree at the Cook County Hospital College of Nursing in Chicago. Following college, she worked for a short time at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Rugby. She married Louie Jaeger on Aug. 23, 1949 in Knox. The couple made their home in Rugby. In 1976, the couple purchased the C&G Hardware & Furniture store, which Louie managed for several years. They sold the business to their son in 1980. Louie died April 26, 1992. In 2001, she moved to St. Cloud.

She was a member of Rugby Little Flower Catholic Church, its choir, Catholic Daughters of America Rugby Court and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Specht, Casper, Wyo., and Joanne Haugen, St. Cloud, Minn.; one son, Bob of Rugby; six grandchildren; two brothers, Jack of Rugby and Denny, Phoenix; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Kathleen; and her parents.

Fr. Thomas Graner officiated. Music was provided by Galen Mack, vocalist, and Glenda Mack, organist.

Casketbearers were her grandchildren, Lindsey, Casey, Lincoln and Sarah Haugen; and Ryan and Andrew Specht.
