Irene C. Hoffart
Irene C. (Osell) (Scheiber) Hoffart passed away August 27, 2009 at the Gray Cara Alternative Care Facility in Keenesburg, Colo. She was 93.
She was born October 22, 1915, in Roseau, Minn., to Alfred and Clara (Leer) Osell. She graduated from Rush City High School in Rush City, Minn.
She married Andrew Scheiber in 1942 in Battle Creek, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1965. Irene married Joseph Hoffart in 1970 in Lakewood, Colo. The couple moved to Longmont, Colo., living there for 20 years.
Irene started her career in the clothing industry with Jacobson’s Department Store in Rugby, N.D., and later worked for the Denver, which became Macy’s, in Colorado.
She attended Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby; St. Bernadette’s in Lakewood, Colo.; and St. John the Baptist in Longmont, Colo.
Irene enjoyed reading, shopping, craft work, and traveling, but what she loved most was gathering with her family and cooking for them. Everyone was always welcome at her house.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew; one daughter, Renee Pellegrino; her parents; one brother, Vernon Osell; and one sister, Juanita Roth.
She is survived by her husband Joseph of Keenesburg, Colo.; three daughters, Andrea (Jerry) Throndset of Lakefield, Minn., Brenda (Daniel) Armfield of Drake, Colo., and Debbie (Michael) Fay of Lakewood, Colo.; two step-daughters, Jeanette (George) Bickler of Longmont, and Darnell (Angel) Hidalgo of Miami; two step-sons, Jerry (Rosa) Hoffart of Old Fort, N.C., and Ron Hoffart of Wichita Falls, Texas; one son-in-law, John Pellegrino of Worthington, Minn.; one brother, Don (Mary) Osell; one sister, Joyce (Clint) Keene; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, Colo. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
