Marlene Halvorson

Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Lebanon Free Lutheran Church in Leeds for Marlene Halvorson, 68, who died on Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Faulkton Health Center in Faulkton, S.D.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Marlene was born Jan. 28, 1941, in Conrad, Mont., a daughter of Albert and Anna (Matheson) Myrvold. She spent her childhood on the family farm east of Conrad and attended country school there. She graduated from high school at Dakota Lutheran Academy in Minot. After high school, she was a nanny for a few years. She married Gerald Halvorson in Leeds. They farmed.

Marlene was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church in Leeds.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Cynthia Martchinske of Faulkton S.D., and Connie Hess of Paynesville, Minn.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; sisters, Vivian Dahl of Clifton, Texas, and Bernice Johnson of Conrad, Mont.; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rev. Brenda Burns, Rev. LeRoy Flickinger and Rev. Bernt I. Dahl officiated. Music was provided by Dorothy Stuberg, pianist.
