Helen Brynteson

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby for Helen Brynteson, 84, who died on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Burial was in the Little Flower Catholic Church Cemetery.

Helen was born on Oct. 4, 1924 in Rugby, the daughter of Paul and Katie (Martian) Bischoff. She grew up on the family farm home of her parents south of Rugby where she received her education in a country school near her home. Following school, she worked for area families as a housekeeper and also at the Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash., during World War II. On Oct. 21, 1946 Helen was united in marriage to Raymond Brynteson in Rugby. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Devils Lake for a short time until returning to the Rugby area. Helen worked for several years as a nursing assistant at the Good Samaritan Hospital and was employed at Andrew’s Steak House for 10 years. Raymond died Jan. 27, 1997.

She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She is survived by a son, Raymond Jr. of Alexandria, Minn.; two daughters, Sandra K. Lindely of E. Wenatchee, Wash., and Susan Tuchscherer of Moscow, Idaho; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; five sisters, Maryann Roberts and Betty Hagen, both of Portland, Ore., Dorothy Robinson of Woodward, Okla., Beatrice Evans of Alda, Neb., and Judy Wurgler of Knox; three brothers, John of Lexington, Neb., Edward of Portland, Ore., and Jim of Seattle, Wash.; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister in infancy; two brothers, George and Paul; and her parents.

Fr. Tom Graner officiated. Music was provided by Kathy Voeller and Angie Deplazes, organist.

Casket bearers were Richard Volk, Jeff Tuchscherer, Dan Burkhartsmeier, Jerry Tuchscherer, Rodney Berg and Richard Bischoff.
