Mary Tyvand

Funeral mass was held Monday, July 6, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Breckenridge, Minn., for Mary Louise Tyvand, 66, Breckenridge, who died Wednesday, July 1 at her home.

Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery, Apple Valley, Minn.

Mary was born July 27, 1942 in Fergus Falls, Minn., the daughter of John and Myrtle (Moe) Savoy. At a young age she moved with her family to Breckenridge, Minn., and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960. She attended NDSCS in Wahpeton, where she met James Tyvand of Rugby. They were married Aug. 5, 1961 in Breckenridge. They made their home in Apple Valley, where Mary had a long career in real estate. They moved to Breckenridge in 1998.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Kathy Van Tol, Mankato, Minn., and Karla Carney, Lakeville, Minn.; three grandsons; her father and his wife, LouEtta; three brothers, Michael Savoy, Tampa, Fla.; David Savoy, Reno, Nev.; and Gregory Savoy, Wahpeton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and a son, Thomas.
