Ethel Leckron
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Rugby for Ethel Lucille Leckron, 86, Rugby, who died Saturday, June 6 at the Heart of America Long Term Care Center in Rugby.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Bantry at a later date.
Ethel was born Jan. 21, 1923 in Trenton, N.D., the daughter of Clifford and Tora (Krueger) Harrington. She grew up in the rural homes of her parents in the Trenton and Deering areas and received her education in country school. In 1942 she married Walter Erven. The couple made their home and farmed eight miles west of Bantry. Walter died in 1961, and Ethel remained on the farm until 1963, when she moved into Towner. On March 19, 1965 she married Edwin Leckron in Towner. The couple lived in Towner until 1970 when they moved to Rugby, where Edwin worked. While living in Rugby Ethel worked as a waitress at the Ideal Cafe and Andrew’s Steak House.
She was a member of the Rugby Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, a resident of the long term care center in Rugby; a son, Ronald Erven, Minot; two daughters, Florence Dahlberg, Rupert, Idaho, and Janice Wagner, Bottineau; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Harrington, Racine, Wis.; three sisters, Vivian Harris, Garrison; Helen Thompson, Deering; and Judy Harrington of Wisconsin; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; a son, Roger; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Clarence, Milton and Leonard; a sister, Ruby Anderson; and her parents.
Rev. Clarence Stanley officiated. Casketbearers were family and friends.
