Edwin Schneider

A memorial mass was held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Rock Springs, Wyo., for Edwin Schneider, 82, Rock Springs, who died Friday, May 22 at the Sage View Care Center in Rock Springs following a lengthy illness.

Edwin was born July 18, 1926 in Rugby, the son of Willie and Tillie (Schafer) Schneider. He attended schools in Orrin and Berwick. He married JoAnn Bruner on Sept. 27, 1948 in Anamoose. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Edwin worked for Great Northern Railway as a track inspector and in construction until his retirement in 1994.

He was a member of American Legion Archie Hay Post 24 in Rock Springs.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Joel Schneider, Laramie, Wyo., and Kurt Schneider, Rock Springs; two daughters, Debbie Gibbs, Rock Springs, and Pam Hruska, Windsor, Colo.; two brothers, James Schneider, Bismarck, and Clifford Schneider, Louisville, Ky.; seven sisters, Marie Sveum, Minot; Ann Hager, Rugby; Stella Schiele, Bismarck; Ramona Schmitz, Harvey; Virginia Davy, Valley City; Yvonne Straus, Green Bay, Wis.; and Martha Fennewald, Wichita, Kans.; 11 grandchildren; and many other relatives.
