Alyce Kramer

Funeral services were held Friday, May 15, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Towner, for Alyce Elenora Kramer, 89, who died Sunday, May 10 at the New Life Living Center in Presho, S.D. Burial was in the Union Cemetery.

Alyce was born April 6, 1920 in the home of her parents in Blaisdell, the daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (Larson) Eikesdahl. When still a small child, she moved with her family to Denbigh, where she was raised. When she was very young, Alyce’s mother passed away, and Alyce and her old sister, Clara, cared for their younger siblings. She attended school in Denbigh and graduated from Granville High School in 1939. She completed her education at Minot Teachers College and taught in the rural school system for several years. On Nov. 8, 1941, she married John W. “Johnny” Kramer in Towner, and they established their ranch and home in Denbigh. After raising their children, Alyce went to work at Peterson’s Golden Rule and later was secretary for the McHenry County Agent and Home Extension offices for 17 years before retiring. The couple spent their retirement years traveling. Johnny died April 5, 1989. Alice continued to live on the ranch until October of 2004 when she moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Presho.

She was a member of Hope Congregational Church in Granville, the Republican Women, Prairie Rose Homemakers, the Farm Bureau and VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Jack, Denbigh, and Brian, Turtle Lake; a daughter, Dawn Keyes, Presho, S.D.; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arline Bright, Estacada, Ore., and Inez Bernard of California; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Clara Husa; a brother, Ernest; and her parents.

Rev. Dennis Keyes officiated. Organist was Mandy Hall, and soloists were Kolette Kramer and Jeff Kramer

Casketbearers were Sheldon Laib, Toby Kramer, Scott Dockter, Shawn Kramer, Reed Kramer, Jeff Kramer, Kurt Kramer and Alan Keyes.
