Margery Duchscherer
Funeral mass was held Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Towner for Margery Barbara Duchscherer, 84, who died Thursday, April 30 at Trinity Homes in Minot.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Margery was born May 31, 1924 in the farm home of her parents in Gorman Township, McHenry County, the daughter of Andrew and Magdalen (Schmithiesler) Warmsbecker. She grew up on the farm south of Towner and graduated from Towner High School. Following high school, she earned a teaching certificate and taught in the rural school system for three years. On Nov. 19, 1945 she married Placy Duchscherer in Towner. The couple made their home in Towner. She provided daycare for neighborhood children and worked part-time at Busch’s Department Store. Placy died April 6, 2002. Margery had been a resident of Trinity Homes since January of this year.
She was a lifetime member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers.
She is survived by sons, Placy Jr., Post Falls, Idaho; Gary, Brookings, S.D.; Gerald “Jerry”, Minot; Raymond, Colleyville, Texas; Edward, Canton, S.D.; and Patrick, Janesville, Wis.; daughters, Darlene Schwartz, Silver Spring, Md.; Laurie Peterson, Minot; and Sharon Anderson, Waldorf, Md.; 27 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Ritter, Memphis, Tenn., and Katherine Williams, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three grandchildren; seven brothers; six sisters; and her parents.
Father Wenceslaus Katanga officiated. Music was provided by St. Cecilia’s Music Ministry.
Casketbearers were grandsons Jared Duchscherer, Tommy Duchscherer, Thomas Duchscherer, Travis Duchscherer and Christopher Heidt; and son-in-law Jay Schwartz.
