Louise Pennington

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, for Louise Elaine (Myxter) Pennington, 96, who died Sunday, April 26 after a lengthly battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Louise was born in Balfour on March 26, 1913. She was a graduate of Minot State College and the University of North Dakota. She married J.I. Pennington on June 12, 1937. She and her husband were public school educators in North Dakota before and after World War II. They lived in Makoti, Dickinson and Rugby prior to moving to Grand Forks in 1965. She was a teacher at Viking Elementary School in Grand Forks from the late 1960s until her retirement in 1976. After their retirement, she and her husband continued to live in Grand Forks. J.I. died in 1992. In 1998 she moved to Sun City West, Ariz., where she resided until moving to the St. Cloud, Minn., area in 2003. The last two years she had lived at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, Minn.

She is survived by a son, Kim, St. Cloud, Minn.; three grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Bruce; three brothers; and her parents.
