Gladys Mund Bauer

Funeral services were held Friday, May 1, 2009 at the United Methodist Church of Wishek for Gladys Mund Bauer, 78, Wishek, who died Sunday, April 26 at her home.

Burial was in the Wishek City Cemetery.

Gladys was born Sept. 14, 1930 in rural Dickey County, the daughter of John and Christina (Fregien) Hein. She attended country school through the fifth grade and Kulm School through the 10th grade. She married Lenhart Mund on Jan. 23, 1948 at Kulm. They farmed four miles west of Fredonia on the family homestead. In 1953 they bought a farm southeast of Fredonia, where they farmed until August of 1968. They moved to Wishek, and Gladys began working as a nurse’s aide at the Wishek Community Hospital, where she worked for 22 years. She was a part-time cook at the Prairie Winds Restaurant until January of 2009. Lenhart died on Oct. 31, 1984. She married Otto Bauer on May 9, 1987. Otto died May 10, 2000. She moved to the Hilltop Apartments March 28, 2009.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wishek.

She is survived by four sons, Del Mund, Arlyn Mund, Curry Mund and Christy Mund; three daughters, Luann Rich, Char Zachmeier, and Anell Cieslak; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Loretta Gall; a step-granddaughter; and a sister, Esther Dittus.

She was preceded in death by family members, Lenhart Mund, Otto Bauer, Arthur and Ephrian Hein, Deb and Gabriel Mund, Ken Kuntz, Terry Gall, Cassia Burch and three sisters, Viola Fehling, Martha Gruneich and Edna Hoffman.
