Hulda Hoover
Memorial services were held Monday, April 20, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Willow City, for Hulda Rose Hoover, 83, Rugby, formerly of Willow City and Maddock, who died Wednesday, April 15 at the Heart of America Medical Center.
Hulda was born Dec. 12, 1925 at Tagus, the daughter of LeRoy and Alice (Yerkie) Matthews. At a young age she moved with her family to Willow City, where she was reared and educated. She married Jerry Hoover on Aug. 2, 1958. They lived at Jamestown and Wausau, Wis., where she earned an associate degree in computer applications. After Jerry’s retirement, they moved to Las Vegas, and then for more than a decade lived in Boise, Idaho. Through the years, Hulda worked as an administrative assistant for several companies. Jerry died in 1994. She moved to Willow City that year and in 2006 moved to the Maddock Memorial Home, where she lived until shortly before her death.
She is survived by brothers, Glen Matthews, Rugby, and Dr. James Matthews, Fairbanks, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
