Dovie Follman
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Leeds Lutheran Church for Dovie Eileen Follman, 82, Leeds, who died Wednesday, April 8 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Dovie was born June 15, 1926 on a farm northeast of Wolford, the daughter of William James and Rose (Graber) Stoll. She attended school in the rural Wolford area. At the age of 16 she began cooking in a cook car. She married Eugene (Ted) Follman in November 1943. The couple lived and farmed near Leeds until his death on Sept. 9, 1991. She later moved into Leeds.
She was active in the Leeds 55 Club and served as its president. She was a member of Leeds Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.
She is survived by four children, William Follman, Leeds; Connie Brown, Devils Lake; Dixie Smith, Fargo; Debra Schmaltz, Grand Forks; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lester Stoll, of Florida; sisters-in-law Emily Stoll, Leeds, and Betty Follman, Grand Forks; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, William and Rose Stoll; a sister, Delphia Ostenson, and a brother, Willis Stoll.
Pastor Richard Budd officiated. Music was provided by Steve Mueller, soloist; Judy Randle, accordionist; and Dan Nybo, organist.
Casketbearers were grandsons, Beau, Cory and Josh Schmaltz, Brandon and Dustin Smith, Michael Follman, Kenny Remmen, and special friend, Donnie Buchta. Honorary bearers were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
