Wilma Arstein
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, for Wilma L. Arstein, 94, Underwood, who died Sunday, April 5 at Prairie View Nursing Home, Underwood.
Burial will be in the Rolette Cemetery.
Wilma was born March 26, 1915, the daughter of John and Emma (Bickel) Johnson. She was raised in the Willow City and Overly areas, attending the Cleveland School at rural Overly. She married Oliver Foss in 1934. They lived in Fonda. Oliver died in 1952. Wilma married David Arstein in 1954, and they farmed in the Rolette area. David died in 1988. Wilma worked for a time at San Haven, the Dunseith Nursng Home, the Rolette hospital, and was also employed with the Rolette School District as a cook for many years. She lived in the Haaland Home complex in Rugby for three years and for the past year had made her home at Prairie View Nursing Home.
She had been very active in Valle Lutheran Church and the Wolf Creek Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Johannes, Underwood; Dale Arstein, Cleveland, Ohio; Maurice Foss, Puyallup, Wash.; Rodney Foss, Bismarck; Stanley Foss, Watertown, S.D.; and Gordon Foss, Nisswa, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a daughter, Sharon Madeja; brothers, Maurice Johnson, LaVerne Johnson and twin brothers in infancy; sister, Ella Brimie, Ruby Moors, Beatrice Jennum and Bernice Wittmayer.
Rev. John Hesford will officiate, and casketbearers will be her grandchildren.
