Helen Stoddard
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 12, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Minot, for Helen Leone Stoddard, 93, Minot and formerly of Rugby, who died Sunday, March 8 in a Minot nursing home.
Helen was born March 15, 1915 in Rugby to Ed and Martha (Tank) Schmutzler. She was reared in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1933. She married Raleigh J. Stoddard on April 20, 1938 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was employed as a waitress and pastry cook and baker at the LePlaza Caf and Riverside Supper Club. Raleigh died on Sept. 27, 1985. She continued to live in her own home until entering Trinity Homes in 2005.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Minot and its Priscilla Circle. She was also a member of the Minot Kennel Club and Railroad Museum.
She is survived by her caregiver, Sally Dahle, Minot; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Selma Ellsworth, Alice Berdahl and Rosie Kent; and a brother, Arthur Schmutzler.
Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church.
