Lillian Fay
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, Minn., for Lillian Caroline Fay 82, Hutchinson, who died Friday, Feb. 27 at the Birchwood Hospice House in Hutchinson.
Lillian was born on March 26 1926 in Rugby to Leonard and Signe (Bjerke) Erickson. She lived with her family on their south farm until she was about 12, when they moved to their north farm. She attended Hendrickson School #4 for eight years. She graduated from Rugby High School in 1944 and worked for a short time at the Pierce County Courthouse. Then she took a job with Rugby Insurance Agency. In 1947 she went to California and worked in a Los Angeles insurance agency for six months but returned to Rugby, where she worked for the hospital for a short time and then at Otter Tail Power Company. She married Frank Fay in 1949. Frank joined the service, and they moved to Omaha, Neb., where they lived for four years. After his discharge, they lived in several locations in South Dakota and Minnesota. They then lived in Burlington, Wis., for three years before settling in Hutchinson in 1965. While living there she worked at several different jobs. In 1982 she moved to Escondido, Calif. She returned to Hutchinson in 1991 and worked in her daughter, Cheryl’s, real estate office.
She is survived by daughters, Rebecca Volkman, Redgranite, Wis., Colleen Perrone, Boca Raton, Fla., Cheryl Dooley and Kathleen Silvernale, both of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Loren Erickson, Moorhead, Minn.; sisters, Irene Bickler, Escondido, Calif., Darlene Daly, Bismarck, and Shirley Atkinson, Hazen; her former husband and his wife, Margaret, of Hutchinson.
