School board discusses valuations

By Staff | Dec 14, 2018

In a meeting Wednesday morning in the Rugby High School board room, the Rugby Public School District No. 5 Board of Education discussed appraisals of some school district properties.

Valuations Northwest appraised the values of sites at Ely Elementary and Rugby High School and a report showed their valuation/replacement costs compared to N.D. State Fire & Tornado valuation/replacement costs.

In some areas, Valuations Northwest’s appraisals were higher than State Fire & Tornado, such as appraisals for Ely Elementary (nearly $6.6 million compared to State Fire & Tornado’s over $5.6 million), the Vocational Building/Rugby Early Learning Center ($912,538 compared to State Fire & Tornado’s $651,000) and the press box/seating/storage area ($212,621 compared to State Fire & Tornado’s $190,600). However, the appraisal for the High School was lower than State Fire & Tornado’s valuation (over $15.1 million compared to State Fire & Tornado’s, which was over $15.5 million.)

The valuation information will be reported to the N.D. Department of Public Instruction for insurance purposes.
