Rugby School hosts Career Discovery ND for students and parents

Rugby High School is hosting Career Discovery ND October 8, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 for students in grades 7-12 and their parents. The event is an opportunity to learn about scholarship opportunities, student loans, job prospects, entrepreneurship and career planning.

Representatives from these North Dakota state agencies: Bank of North Dakota, Department of Commerce, Department of Public Instruction, ND SBDC and Career Resource Network will present.

The meal and prizes are provided by Merchants Bank, Bremer Bank and First International Bank. Parents and students can choose from several presentations given in three short sessions. Parents are asked to register at www.bnd.nd.gov/careerdiscoverynd to ensure adequate handouts and food.

“This is an excellent opportunity to hear from the experts regarding career and education options for our students,” states Julie Sjol “It’s exciting for our young people to consider their future dreams and plan accordingly.”

Financial aid night

There will be a Financial Aid Night for parents and students in the Rugby High School library on Monday, October 15 @ 6 p.m. The agenda will look like this:

6:00 p.m. – Paying for College Presentation

7:00 p.m. – Work on computers to get FSA ID; Complete FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid)

Students should bring these items listed below if they want to complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA.

– Social Security number (student & parent)

– completed 2017 federal tax return and W-2’s (student & parent)

– 2017 untaxed income records (such as veteran non-education benefits, child support, worker’s comp, etc.)

– record of savings, investments & assets (student & parent)

– driver’s license.

– Rugby Public Schools
