Cameron graduates from MSUM
Madeline Cameron, daughter of Jim & Sheryl Cameron, of Rugby, was one of 425 students who were awarded degrees during Minnesota State University-Moorhead’s fall commencement exercises Thursday.
Cameron graduated with a Certificate in Publishing and a Bachelor of Arts degree in english/mass communications.
The ceremony was broadcasted on WDAY’Z Extra and included an hour-long pre-commencement program with interviews, student videos and other content that will be anchored by MSUM alumna Lane Zyvoloski, a 2013 mass communication/media studies graduate and WDAY’s First News anchor and producer.
Guest speakers included alumni Vincent Williams (social studies & MS curriculum and instruction) and Erma Vizenor (elementary education, MS guidance and counseling, & Specialist education administration).
Williams is the assistant principal intern at Lincoln Elementary School in Fargo. He is an integral part of the district’s technology initiative, and has served on several committees including the Fargo North High School Leadership Team, the Fargo Public Schools Social Studies Committee, and the Fargo Public Schools Summer School Task Force.
Vizenor will be representing the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees & Office of the Chancellor. Gov. Mark Dayton appointed Vizenor to the Board of Trustees in 2014 for a six- year term, expiring June 30, 2020.
Vizenor was elected Chairwoman of the White Earth Reservation in 2004 and is the first woman to lead the largest tribe in Minnesota. She has worked her entire career in education on the White Earth Reservation. She is committed to building a strong infrastructure within the White Earth Reservation, which is necessary in order to exercise sovereignty, self-governance, and service to the tribal citizens.
