Wolford School students competed in the 29th annual Knowledge Bowl at North Star High School in Cando on April 10.

Wolford’s high school and junior high teams both made the lightning round of the competition and finished fourth out of 11- and nine-team fields, respectively.

The event was organized by North Star’s Jeff Hagler, who also judged with Nancy Reiser. Kevin Panko served as moderator.

Junior high teams also included Munich, Rolla, Rolette, North Star, Dunseith, Edmore, Leeds and Langdon.

High school teams included the same schools and Starkweather.

Wolford School’s high school team included from left to right: Tonya Slaubaugh, Madison Marchus, Rylan Graber, Lynnsey Slaubaugh and Alyssa Graber.

The point of the event is to showcase the best and brightest academic students of each school.

The format consists of two rounds. First round rules gave students 60 seconds to answer questions, which had to be spelled correctly and entered into a Smart Response System.

The top-five teams advanced to the lightning round to face 10 questions. Teams had to buzz in to answer.
