Kindergarten through sixth grade Wolford students traveled to the Audi Theater in Cando on Dec. 13 to see “Dancing Dazzling Beads.” This is an exhibition that opened in the spring of 2013 at the North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks and is now traveling throughout the state. The show consisted of work done by today’s leading contemporary bead artists from across the U.S. and Canada. The students saw traditional beads and beading techniques as well as how the art of beading has changed.

Along with the exhibition, the museum’s education department developed numerous lesson plans that coincide with this traveling show. The students learned how texture, balance, contrast and movement relate to artwork done with beads. Students and teachers were excited to attend “Dancing Dazzling Beads” and be a part of such an educational experience.
