Wolford students attend 2012 FBLA conference

By Staff | Apr 23, 2012

Members of the Wolford High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter and chapter advisor, Gabe Kippley, attended the ND FBLA State Leadership Conference in Bismarck on April 1 3, 2012. Over fifty FBLA chapters from across the state participated in this conference, where approximately 1,200 students had the opportunity to test their business skills against other students from around the state.

The most exciting aspect of the conference is the competitive events program. Students have the opportunity to test the business skills they have learned in the classroom in a variety of individual, team, and chapter events. Students can enter events such as accounting, computer applications, public speaking, job interview, website development, or networking concepts. The culmination of the competitive events program is the awards ceremony where winners are recognized for their accomplishments. In addition to the competitive events program, students had the opportunity to attend workshops, business tours and college tours.

The Wolford chapter had a very successful conference.

They were recognized with a Market Share 100% Award. Every student in grades 9 12 is a member of the chapter. Chapter President, Taylor Armstrong, accepted the award.

Tonya Slaubaugh placed first in Computer Applications. She will represent North Dakota at the National Leadership Conference held in San Antonio, TX June 29 July 2.

Other members also placed in individual events: Alyssa Graber placed 5th in Computer Applications; Kali Walsh placed 5th in Business Procedures; Tonya Slaubaugh placed 6th in Introduction to Technology Concepts; Jonathan Slaubaugh placed 7th in Sports Management.

Chapter “Who’s Who” recipients: Kali Walsh and Devon Wendland.
