Leeds students participate in Mathematics contest
Forty-five students at Leeds Public School participated in the 61st annual American Mathematics Contest 12 and the 11th annual American Mathematics Contest 10. The contests were held on Feb. 24. Students competed for local, regional and national student and school awards. The contest, which covers high school mathematics, is given in participating schools. Its purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and develop talent through the excitement of friendly competition at problem solving in a time format.
In 2009 over 220,000 students from 4,200 schools participated in the AMC 10 and AMC 12 contests including the students from Leeds Public School. For 2010, the Leeds Public School winner for the AMC 10 is Kendra Leibfried and the winner for the AMC 12 is Matthew Swanson.
