Executive Director Jeff Welk of Heart of America Germans from Russia is putting on something magical again this fall, Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, and runs from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and is located at the Prairie Village Museum at 102 Highway 2 Southeast.
There will be events for the whole family. From flying down on a zip line, to getting lost in a corn maze and even eatting unique food.
This food will have a variety to get your fill, between food trucks and authentic German cuisine. The German food ranges from sausage, sauerkraut and knoephla soup.
The Doodlin’ Dixies food truck is famous for their street corn. If that wasn’t enough, they have butter chicken and tacos if German cuisine is not your thing. They will be there all day on Saturday.
Welk also said if anyone wishes to volunteer they can call him at 776-6414.
Do not worry if you cannot make it to this year’s Oktoberfest because the events are not just tied to Oktoberfest alone. This is also the starting date for the Prairie Pumpkin Patch which lasts for three more weeks. The pumpkin patch takes place on Sept. 26-27, and then on Oct. 3-4. All festivities start at 10 a.m. each day and end at 6 p.m.
