The enduro races were held at the Pierce County Fairgrounds with the Wheels-n-Weiners Hotrod event. Hotrods, food stands and enduro race cars were lined up for people to come enjoy, and the 94 degree weather didn’t stop people from enjoying the event.
Before any enduro vehicle enters the race track, the track is prepared using a four-wheel drive tractor with metal spikes on the back. Jay Lougman makes sure the surface of the track is loosened, fracturing the layers of soil for the drivers to enjoy the track as they race in circles.
Hadley Yoder, who holds the 4th place winner in the world at the WDRA Summit World Championship Race last October, was one of the owners with her brother Kelby Yoder showcasing both dragsters at the Wheels-n-Weiners Hotrod carshow. Hadley Yoder walked home with the “Peoples Choice Award.”
Larry Vetsch showcased his 1969 Orange GTO and 1974 Blue Chevy Chevelle.
In the July heat, food stand owners Steve, Robyn and Kathrine Arnold, of Arnold’s Misfit Acres BBQ stand, opened in 2015. They brought their sauces to the Wheels-n-Weiners Hotrod event. Steve Aarnold makes and prepares all his own sauces, ketchup, adding in a tasty flavor in the sauce, chokecherry syrup. When Steve Arnold and Robyn Arnold are not busy with their barbeque stand, they work in the medical field, Steve Arnold is a nurse practitioner and Robyn Arnold is a nurse.
