Sign up for summer activities was held May 18-19 at the Rugby Memorial Armory.

Various organizations participated in the event — Heart of America Library, First Lutheran VBS, Calvary Evangelical Free Church VBS, LEGO Club, Village Arts, Farmer’s Union Camp, Pierce County Fair and other organizations.

Some organizations mentioned activities taking place for school-aged children and family members, which included the Rugby Swimming Pool with group swim lessons, Village Arts summer programs, Heart of America Library’s Summer Reading Program and livestream of TED talk on democracy, First Lutheran Church’s day camps, and Calvary Evangelical Free Church’s programs in June and July.

If musical instruments strike a chord, maybe an adult ballet, jazz, tap, specialized stretch and strengthening classes will get you moving.

Rugby Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its Crazy Days again this summer, and you can also enjoy some community bingo.

Rugby Lions Club will host its annual Music in the Park Concert Series at Ellery Park every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from June 3 through August 26 (excluding the week of July 4). Music in the Park started in 1996, since then over 300 entertainers played including Daryl Opstedal in 1996, Melissa Spelchen in 2015, The Benson Family Singers in 2018 and Euphoria in 2023. This year’s lineup includes Replacements, Chris Basden Band, Ron E. Cash (Johnny Cash Tribute Act), Tom Davis, Debbie & Gordy, Too Old to Stand, 49th Parallel, Church of Cash, Moon Cats and Forever Simon & Garfunkel.

Fraternal Order of Eagles (Rugby Chapter) will host the Ma’s Feedlot/Cookcar events along with other club fundraisers and food events.

Structured men’s and women’s summer golf leagues alongside weekend community scrambles will be offered at local golf courses.

Rugby Jaycees is organizing and assembling its annual community July 4 Parade.
