Jennifer Bercier

Jennifer Bercier started Monday, Sept. 29, as a reporter for The Pierce County Tribune, covering the Rugby community.

Bercier, who also goes by Jenn, is a Rugby resident with deep North Dakota roots.

“We’re excited to have Jenn working in Rugby as a full-time reporter for The Pierce County Tribune,” said Publisher Bob Patchen. “Jenn has hit the ground running and I’m excited to have her in the community reporting on the news that matters to our readers.”

Bercier was born and raised in Belcourt. Her career path included a move out west for education and work before returning to her home state.

“I received a family invitation to move to the Greater Northwest. Accepting the invitation, I packed up my bags, moving north of Everett, Washington. I enrolled in Northwest Bible College at Kirkland, Washington, to further my education,” she said.

While taking college courses, she gained employment working with the general public in the food industry.

“I met my husband in Washington state and started helping with his family business. Then I decided to start working with the public and was an essential worker in the food industry during the scare of COVID,” she said.

Bercier recently moved back to North Dakota to be closer to family.

“To support my family I found a home in Rugby. Our daughter decided to stay in Washington, where she is a pre-med student with her eyes focused on a cardiology degree,” Bercier said.

Bercier said she enjoys driving the countryside, appreciating nature, traveling to scenic sites and finding new areas to visit. Her love for the outdoors extends to her past experiences.

“I have been able to hike some beautiful places in the mountains of Washington and Idaho. Farm life has always been a huge part of my life – feeding and watering the animals, helping with repairs and interacting with the animals,” she said.

Bercier looks forward to connecting with readers and sharing their stories.

“I would like to thank you for your warm welcome I have received so far and I look forward to meeting and sharing the news with you,” Bercier said.
