Rugby Public Schools has announced a fundraising effort, the Panther Pride Planks Fundraiser, to replace aging bleachers in the school’s gym, giving the Rugby community a chance to own a piece of history.

The replacement of the bleachers is estimated to cost $275,000. The school is offering commemorative sections of the retired RHS gym floor for purchase, which itself is set to be replaced after being damaged by water that leaked through the gym room in July.

“This floor has been the site of countless games, pep rallies and community gatherings,” said Superintendent Mike McNeff. “By taking home a piece, you’re not only preserving memories but also helping us build something new for the next generation.”

The online auction will run from Sept. 4-14, and seeks to raise $10,000-15,000 in the first phase toward the $275,000 bleacher replacement project. Standard 12-by-12 foot commemorative floor sections are available, and premium pieces featuring rare sections like the center court panther logo and baseline PANTHERS letters will be available through the online auction. Quantities are limited, and are first come first serve.
