HARVEY–The District 14 Democratic-NPL Committee elected new leadership at a district meeting in Harvey on March 29.

According to a release, approximately 30 people attended the committee’s spring reorganizational meeting led by outgoing chair Mark Nelson, Rugby.

Christie Jaeger, Esmond, was elected chair, and Peter Larson, Sheyenne, was elected co-chair. The group voted to return committee secretary Sheila Ostrem, Rugby, and treasurer Ted Sitz, Harvey, to office.

The District 14 legislative district encompasses all or most of Benson, Burleigh, Eddy, Kidder, PIerce, Sheridan and Wells counties, roughly from Rugby to Steele. District committee officers are elected to two-year terms.

Guest speakers at the meeting were Erin Oban, former state director for USDA Rural Development in North Dakota, and Trygve Hammer 2024 candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives and author of the online newsletter Trygve’s Substack.

Oban addressed the group via Zoom on behalf of North Dakotans for Public Schools. Hammer shared his thoughts on the importance of strategic messaging in light of today’s continuous news cycles and varied media platforms.

The next District 14 Dem-NPL meeting is tentatively set for June 12 in Maddock.
