Scott and Joni Johnson of Rugby have been named 2024 Harvest Bowl honorees at North Dakota State University.
The award honors agriculturalists from each of the 53 counties in North Dakota for their success, dedication and hard work.
Scott Johnson has been farming for 45 years. The Johnsons grow wheat, rye, canola, soybeans, sunflowers and corn. Their conservation efforts include minimum- to no-till practices.
Although each operation is separate, Johnson farms closely with his brothers Cory and Kipp Johnson and his nephew Anders Johnson. This collaboration allows him to be more efficient with labor and equipment.
Johnson served on the Farmers Union Oil/Envision board of directors for 28 years, including nine years as chair. He also served as a director for the All Seasons Water Users District and the Lake Region Co-op Transport. He is a member of the Rugby Masons, Kem Shriners and Rugby Lions Club, and is active in his church. Joni Johnson worked at Merchants Bank of Rugby for 35 years. She is a member of the Rugby Economic Development Corp., treasurer of the Rugby Lions Club and active in her church.
Honorees were recognized at the 50th annual Harvest Bowl program at NDSU on Nov. 15.
