Any type of change is difficult, and no one likes it. But in life, change happens regardless of how hard you work to stop it. The Pierce County Tribune is at a crossroads. We’re upgrading our phone systems and must decide. We’re moving away from our POTS landline to newer technology.
I worked tirelessly with our team of techs to make this transition as seamless as possible. We had complications. Our current phone provider refused to port our current number to our new system. So, we then looked at all five local prefixes servicing Rugby. We cannot get a local prefix. They’re all owned by the phone companies that service the area, and they’re not sharing. We tried to keep the number within the local prefixes. We simply were not able to do it.
The Pierce County Tribune has a new phone number: (701) 857-1905. If you have a cellphone, this will still be a local call. If you are still using a landline, we are sorry that this will be a long-distance call for you. We value you as customers, but we want to be able to provide the best customer service we can. This is simply a change that had to happen. We are moving our phones to a cloud-based system that gives us increased access to and availability for incoming customer service calls. The reality now is that if you call The Pierce County Tribune, there will be someone there to answer your call.
This does not mean The Pierce County Tribune is changing. We simply want to provide the best customer service possible and feel this is the best way to accomplish that goal. After all, when you call, you want to talk to someone and get your questions answered.
I am also working extremely hard to fill the vacant reporter position. We are looking for someone who understands that commission, council and school board meetings are important. But there is a heartbeat in a community like Rugby and Pierce County that is more important than those meetings. We want to have a local reporter who has their finger on the heartbeat of what drives Rugby and Pierce County. If you’re interested or know someone who may be, please call me at (701) 857-1905 or email me at bpatchen@minotdailynews.com. I want to hear from you.
Thank you for being a customer of The Pierce County Tribune. We truly value you reading our paper every Saturday.
