The Pierce County Tribune’s Sue Sitter won first place for reporting for weekly mid-size newspapers in the North Dakota Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Contest, held in Bismarck May 6-7.

Sitter’s story, “Rugby Livestock Auction sees flood of cattle from drought,” followed the story of area ranchers making the tough choice to send their herds to auction in the face of exceptional drought conditions during the summer of 2021.

Sitter, a Rugby resident, has written for newspaper and online publications in North Dakota and Northern California. She has worked as a reporter for The Pierce County Tribune since 2018.
