Migler to take county auditor post

By Sue Sitter - | Mar 19, 2022

The Pierce County Board of Commissioners voted to hire Deputy Auditor Karen Migler to replace Pierce County Auditor Karin Fursather, who retires in May, in a special meeting on March 10.

The vote came after Tanya Wieler, a human resources consultant hired by the county, conducted interviews and recommended Migler based on what Commissioner Terry Hoffert said were “her 20 years of experience” in the auditor’s office.

Commissioners Hoffert, Ashley Berg, Michael Christenson, and Mike Brossart voted to offer Migler the position. Commissioner Dave Migler abstained because Karen Migler is his sister-in-law.

Karen Migler accepted the position and will take the post on May 1. Fursather will stay in the office part-time after she retires on April 30 so she can train Karen Migler for her new position.

Fursather also shared an informational letter containing information on county services to include along with tax statements for Pierce County residents.

In other business, the commissioners discussed work in progress to remove a brick chimney from the roof of the county social services building.

The board will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, April 5, at 8 a.m. at the Pierce County Courthouse.
