Businesses show appreciation to local farmers, ranchers
Sue Sitter/PCT Comedian Tim Harmston entertains an audience of local farmers and ranchers at the Rugby Eagles on Feb. 4.
Area farmers and ranchers enjoyed a roast beef supper and a show by nationally-known comedian Tim Harmston courtesy of local businesses at the Rugby Eagles on Feb. 4.
The 2022 Farmer and Rancher Appreciation Supper, sponsored by 33 businesses offering services ranging from work gear to financial planning, drew more than 100 members of local farm and ranch families.
After a raffle featuring prizes donated by Rugby Hardware Hank and other merchants, guests enjoyed a performance by Harmston, who poked good-natured fun at his Wisconsin roots. Other themes in Harmston’s performance included humorous offers of sympathy to Minnesota Vikings and its fans.
Josh Mattson, finance manager at McGuire’s Automotive, served as the emcee for the evening.
“Hopefully things go well this spring,” he said, referring to the possibility of an end to last year’s exceptional drought conditions.
